Position Summary Using independent judgment, the
Director of Finance
is primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of the financial agreements, including developing, coordinating, and supervising the accounting procedures related to the operation of the facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining formal accounting systems, supervising the organization of accounting records, preparing monthly financial statements, event settlements, and managing the yearly budget.
Work Environment The position is on‑site at the Mobile Convention Center and oversees the Saenger Theatre and the new Arena. Standard business hours apply, with occasional flexibility required to support events—including mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed. Must maintain regular attendance and a professional presence.
Salary: $100,000‑$120,000 per year, bonus eligible.

About the Venue The Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center is a spectacular facility providing excellent meeting accommodations. It features 317,000 gross square feet, including a 100,000 square‑foot exhibit hall, and a unique design with terraces for outdoor functions and breathtaking views of the Mobile River. The Saenger Theatre seats 1,900 patrons and hosts over 70,000 guests annually. The new Mobile Arena will be a 10,000‑capacity venue, opening early 2027, and will include a range of premium seating and experiences.
Responsibilities
Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of assigned programs, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, budgeting, and the general ledger.
Administer the convention center's annual budget, consult with department managers on forecasting, monitor expenditures, and implement budgetary adjustments as necessary.
Prepare financial statements for the Client and OVG Corporate Office, and produce other financial reports including monthly statements, annual budgets, and annual reports.
Coordinate accounting activities related to annual audits, serve as liaison for the Accounting Section with other departments and auditors, and resolve significant issues.
Analyze balance sheet and P&L figures for monthly statements, providing comments and explanations of performance trends.
Review checks, deposits, daily cash receipts, and disbursements.
Review financial statements with management personnel.
Plan, develop, and recommend procedures to align the facility’s financial management with corporate goals.
Select, train, motivate, and evaluate Accounting Department staff; coordinate staff training and correct deficiencies.
Direct, coordinate, and review the workflow for the Finance Department, monitor work flow, and evaluate methods and procedures.
Monitor compliance with all management contract provisions.
Assist with show settlement, including payments to promoters and preparation of show income/loss reports.
Prepare state and local tax returns promptly.
Work cooperatively with other department directors on joint projects.
Occasionally serve as Manager on Duty.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of professional accounting experience, including at least three (3) years of supervisory responsibility.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, public or business administration, or a related field. Additional experience may be substituted for formal education.
Experience with NetSuite and Oracle preferred.
Previous arena, hotel, or convention center accounting experience preferred.
Certified Public Accountant preferred.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, accounting system software, and internet applications.

Recruit, interview, select, train, manage, and evaluate subordinate employees in the Finance Department.
Provide administrative and professional leadership for all finance activities.
Recommend and implement goals, objectives, and practices for efficient customer service.
Recognize challenges, analyze alternatives, and implement recommendations to support organizational objectives.
Interpret and apply administrative and departmental policies and procedures.
