About the Role The Counselor I position at Evolve’s Prosperity Manor Women’s Center is a foundational role within our Health Care Services team, focused on providing compassionate and effective counseling support to individuals facing mental health and emotional challenges while in a substance abuse recovery program. The primary goal of this role is to facilitate client well‑being through assessment, individualized treatment planning, and ongoing therapeutic interventions.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and adherence to ethical and professional standards, and fostering a supportive and safe environment for healing and development.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or GED recipient.
At least one (1) year of experience in the addiction recovery process with at least six (6) months working in the field.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional integrity.
Computer literacy and basic skills in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline.
Experience or internship in a clinical or counseling setting.
Basic knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and ethical standards.
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor (LADAC) or enrollment in a program.
Experience working with diverse populations and in multidisciplinary teams.
Training in crisis intervention and trauma‑informed care.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities
Conduct initial client assessments and provide case management.
Develop and implement individualized counseling plans based on client goals and clinical best practices.
Provide group educational sessions to support clients in managing substance abuse and emotional, behavioral, and psychological issues.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
Collaborate and communicate with healthcare professionals and referrals to coordinate care and support services.
Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
Participate in ongoing professional development and supervision to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
Skills Strong communication and active listening are essential for building trust and facilitating meaningful therapeutic relationships. Organizational skills are used daily to maintain detailed and confidential client documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards. Preferred skills such as crisis intervention and trauma‑informed care enhance the counselor’s ability to respond to urgent client needs and complex situations with sensitivity and professionalism. Proficiency with electronic health record systems streamlines documentation and coordination with other healthcare providers, supporting integrated client care.
