Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) - Orthopedics – MUSC Health Orthopedics
The Medical University of South Carolina Health is seeking a skilled and proactive Orthopedic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a high‑impact role where clinical autonomy meets collaborative care, and where your expertise directly improves patient outcomes.
In This Role, You Will:
Independently evaluate and treat patients, managing a wide range of orthopedic conditions with confidence and precision.
Collaborate closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring seamless care from diagnosis through recovery.
Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests to support timely, evidence‑based treatment plans.
Educate and guide patients on post‑operative care, injury prevention, and long‑term wellness strategies.
We’re looking for an APP who thrives in a fast‑paced surgical environment, brings strong clinical judgment, and is passionate about delivering exceptional orthopedic care.
Required Minimum Training Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN.
Preferred Training
For Physician Assistant: AGPNP/ANP (Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP or Adult NP) or FNP (Family NP).
For APRN: AGACNP/ACNP (Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner).
Degree of Supervision Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
Basic Life Support (BLS)
DHEC and DEA license
Job Duties
Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history, physical exam, and evaluation of diagnostic test results.
Initiates referrals and/or consults with attending or collaborating physicians.
Documents and bills for direct care provided.
Utilizes current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice.
Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
Maintains professional development through continuing education and professional organization participation.
Potentially precepts students and facilitates learning of new team members.
Physical Requirements Perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting; lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs; perform repetitive motions and reach in all directions. Maintain vision and work in a latex‑safe environment.
