Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The Assistant Store Manager develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming. Ensure products are easy to see and buy; build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests; maintain a clean, organized environment; grow guest loyalty and repeat business. Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; thank guests for shopping at GameStop. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using POS; handle transactions, provide receipts, and maintain top-notch guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop\'s guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on responsibilities, policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Monitor associate performance; provide timely feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with company and store guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to associates; input written feedback into Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training for associates prior to openings or closing shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethical responsibilities. Schedule store associates and manage breaks and meals; supervise staffing to ensure optimal guest service. Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify pay for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ship daily. Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct security checks at closing; communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties. Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and alphabetized on the sales floor. Reconcile daily totals in POS; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and communicate discrepancies to management. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing lists. Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines. Assist in maintaining store records and up-to-date manuals; supervise and delegate tasks in absence of Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures; follow opening/closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or bachelor\'s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine and individualized assistance to every guest. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; English required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. Work independently and in a team; meet performance expectations including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) system; basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork; follow written or diagram instructions; execute financial tasks per policy. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Manage pressure, be a problem solver, and maintain guest interactions under stress. Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work alone; able to stand and move for up to 12 hours; able to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks.
