Human Resources Analyst / Recruiter at Los Angeles County Department of Human Resources ⚖️ Join Our Team as a Human Resources Coordinator (R1842Q‑R)

The Team Member We’re Searching For:

A highly organized, detail‑oriented professional with experience performing specialized clerical duties in a personnel or HR office, ready to make an impact in a dynamic County environment.

You qualify if you meet

one

of the following paths:

Option 1:

One (1) year of experience assisting in technical personnel work, such as policy development, recruitment, classification and salary administration, employee relations, staff development, performance management, discipline and advocacy, benefits and retirement, Workers’ Compensation/Return-to-Work programs, personnel operations, or personnel records, in a Central Personnel Office. Experience must include providing HR/personnel services to the entire organization or department under the direction of a Human Resources Manager.

Option 2:

One (1) year of payroll experience, processing the payroll for a segment of an organization, County departmental, or Health Services payroll operation.

What You’ll Do As a

Human Resources Coordinator , you’ll:

Maintain and update personnel files and records, including employment history, leave records, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and position control data.

Prepare and review personnel transactions, verify compliance with County Code, and provide salary and payroll information.

Compile and analyze workforce statistics (turnover, vacancies, budget requirements) to support management decisions.

Coordinate recruitment and selection activities, including evaluating applications, conducting interviews, assisting with testing, and managing eligibility lists.

Provide guidance to employees and applicants on personnel policies, Civil Service Rules, benefits, and procedures; may supervise clerical staff and conduct new employee orientations.

Desired Skill Sets

Personnel and Records Management

– Skilled in maintaining comprehensive employee files, position control systems, and confidential personnel data.

Recruitment and Selection

– Experienced in coordinating hiring processes, evaluating applications, conducting interviews, and managing eligibility lists.

Policy Interpretation and Compliance

– Proficient in applying County Code, Civil Service Rules, and salary provisions to ensure accurate and compliant personnel actions.

Data Analysis and Reporting

– Capable of compiling, analyzing, and presenting workforce statistics to support management decisions and staffing needs.

Employee Relations and Communication

– Strong ability to advise employees on rights, benefits, and policies, handle grievances, and conduct orientations or training.
