Overall Responsibilities The Junior Buyer coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies, to meet cost, delivery, quality, and schedule objectives. The Junior Buyer also expedites all departmental open orders/items to ensure Delivery Dock and/or Delivery Need dates are met.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Review requisitions and Buyer Action Report daily. Negotiate with vendors to obtain product or service information for best price, availability, and delivery.
Consult catalogs and interview suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.
Monitor supplier cost against market and commodity price fluctuations.
Determine method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
Prepare purchase orders or bid requests.
Verify and acknowledge vendor lead times against need date.
Maintain procurement records and documentation.
Work with related departments to resolve and process material non‑conformances.
Collaborate with suppliers to meet order lead time requirements.
Expedite delivery of goods as required.
Maintain inventory levels and turns to achieve company objectives.
Follow verbal and written instructions.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Perform all duties following safety processes, procedures, and guidelines.
Other duties as requested by management.
Required Education
High School diploma required.
Minimum: Associates degree (AA) or equivalent vocational/technical two‑year school programs.
Compensation and Benefits Pay is $21 per hour. The role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and participate in the company's medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the 401(k) retirement plan.
