AvalonBay Communities is looking for a
Maintenance Technician
to support multiple apartment communities: Avalon Northborough, Avalon Marlborough, and Avalon Milford. The role operates Monday‑Friday 8:00 am‑5:00 pm and requires an on‑call rotation each month. Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, major appliances, carpentry, emergency systems, flooring, hardware accessories, masonry, paint/wallpaper, water features (pools, spas), and waste management systems. Complete assigned service requests in a timely manner while maintaining equipment and supply standards. Ensure vacant apartment homes are rent‑ready and perform turnkey work as required. Conduct apartment preventive maintenance. Assist in painting interior and exterior surfaces. Maintain an incident‑free safety culture by following all safety policies and reporting unsafe conditions. Perform hot works including brazing, soldering, and welding within company standards. Qualifications
2‑3 years of experience in maintenance with knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repair work. Valid driver’s license. Ability to accommodate an on‑call rotation. Excellent customer service communication skills. Understanding of key control, apartment turnover, and emergency policies. Knowledge of chemical handling, Hazard Communication Safety Data Sheets, and proper chemical use. Proficiency in personal protective equipment (PPE). Basic understanding of emergency systems, shutoffs, and operation sequence. Knowledge of paint types and tools. How AvalonBay Supports You
