Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager – Life Sciences & Health Care Sector Join us at Hogan Lovells to lead marketing and business development for our Life Sciences and Health Care sector. We are a leading global law firm with a dedicated practice of over 500 lawyers in this area, advising more than 1,000 clients across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, digital health, healthcare providers, payors, and services.

Base Salary $185,000.00 / yr – $225,000.00 / yr

Responsibilities Leadership

Collaborate with sector leadership and M&BD teams to design and execute a global strategy that aligns with firm objectives and strengthens market position in the Life Sciences and Health Care sector.

Act as the M&BD expert for the Life Sciences and Health Care team.

Manage four direct reports and lead a global team of indirect reports, providing guidance, training, and professional development.

Profile Raising & Marketing Campaigns

Lead efforts to enhance the firm’s profile through targeted campaigns, thought leadership, events, and sponsorships.

Conceptualize and support client seminars, webinars, and other marketing events, managing materials, day‑of logistics, and follow‑up reporting.

Oversee directory submissions for relevant rankings and publications.

Foster relationships with industry associations, leveraging sponsorships to drive client engagement.

Collaborate with the PR team to implement profile‑raising strategies for the sector and individual partners.

Ensure effective internal reporting and communication of M&BD activities.

Lead pitch strategy for Life Sciences and Health Care, aligning with the sales transformation plan and global pitch coordination.

Develop and manage responses to RFPs, pitches, and proposals tailored to client needs.

Business & Client Development

Support client targeting initiatives, advising on new business opportunities and strategic development.

Ensure adoption of client relationship management best practices across the sector.

Utilize firm technologies to track client engagement and manage relationships.

M&BD Projects

Contribute to broader M&BD projects, including Clients & Sectors and Global Regulatory & IP practices.

Share best practices and processes across the global sector team.

Participate in the Global Responsible Business program.

Undertake other ad‑hoc projects as assigned.

Qualifications Required Skills

Proven ability to motivate and coach business team members to support the firm’s M&BD goals.

Understanding of the Life Sciences and Health Care sector’s commercial landscape and major participants.

Strategic and commercial awareness with a proactive mindset.

Pragmatic, diplomatic, and resourceful with adaptability.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with excellent writing abilities.

Attention to detail and organizational skills for managing simultaneous projects.

Ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.

Capacity to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Education, Certifications, and Experience

Eight (8)+ years of relevant experience in a legal or professional services industry preferred.

Four (4)+ years in a management position preferred.

Experience in business development and marketing in a professional services or Life Sciences/Health Care organization preferred.

Established knowledge and experience of the life sciences and health care sector.

Bachelor’s degree preferred; post‑graduate qualifications (e.g., MBA) advantageous.

Hours Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., including a lunch hour. Additional hours may be required based on business needs.
