Overview
Procurement Specialist The Procurement Specialist plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations, project management, and engineering teams by ensuring the timely procurement of materials and services required for production, repairs, and product development. This position manages purchase orders, coordinates with suppliers, participates in vendor negotiations, and maintains compliance with Sierra-Olympia’s Quality Management System (QMS). The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and vendors of technical components. Responsibilities
Purchase materials and services to meet current and planned production requirements. Research, qualify, and evaluate suppliers; issue requests for quotation (RFQs) and negotiate pricing. Manage supplier contracts and delivery schedules, ensuring on-time delivery and accurate documentation. Track inventory shortages and develop pre-buy and overbuy strategies to mitigate supply disruptions. Support engineering and project teams with sourcing for new product development and prototype builds. Maintain compliance with Sierra-Olympia’s QMS and ISO 9001 supplier-control requirements. Work closely with technical teams to interpret specifications and ensure vendor alignment with quality and performance expectations. Identify and recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and supplier performance. Qualifications
Required 3+ years of purchasing or supply-chain experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. Preferred Experience using SAP B1 or similar ERP/MRP software. Experience purchasing precision-machined parts, electronic components, or printed circuit board assemblies. Technical background or experience collaborating with engineers and technical vendors.
