Responsibilities
Perform and coordinate all business development activities in assigned geographic/industry territory in accordance with overall corporate business strategy.
Increase customer awareness of Burns & McDonnell Engineering capabilities by continually contacting new clients and maintaining existing client relations.
Manage client-focused strategies and action plans that respond to client challenges and create a competitive advantage to win work.
Lead business development teams in opening and middle game activities, including market research, client/competitor analysis, and developing value propositions and pre-RFP collateral.
Identify emerging opportunities by researching industry events and publications; track contributors and accomplishments.
Contact potential OEM partners and explore new business opportunities.
Screen opportunities by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; resolve internal priorities and recommend investments.
Develop negotiating strategies aligned with company strategies and operations.
Close new business deals by coordinating requirements, negotiating contracts, and integrating contract requirements with operations.
Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
Maintain knowledge through education, professional publications, networks, and organizations; contribute to marketing and sales planning processes.
Enhance the organization’s reputation by taking ownership of new requests and adding value.
Identify new, non-traditional solutions to differentiates Burns & McDonnell’s offerings.
Research trade shows for potential attendance, participation, and presenting opportunities; engage with industry associations.
Collaborate with other global practices and regional offices to leverage skills and client contacts for marketing efforts.
Coordinate sales/marketing initiatives with other BMcD organizations; communicate regularly with other Business Development Leads and Project Managers.
Identify potential clients and build relationships at the corporate level; contribute to annual marketing and sales planning; pursue personal sales/marketing goals.
Capture and report opportunities using CRM; report metrics through pursuit process.
Comply with company and site safety policies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction or related field from an accredited program.
Minimum 5 years of related professional experience in marketing, business development or sales promotion; experience in the A/E/C industry preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and capability to present complex information at all levels.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience developing and delivering training presentations related to proposals, business development or pursuit strategies.
