New York Life is hiring a Product Owner (PO) to join the Core Modernization program for Policy Administration for Life Insurance (PALI). The Core Modernization effort installs a new Policy Administration system. PALI is a multi-year effort to migrate all newly written agent business to the new platform. The program enables future growth and reduces friction in serving our agents and clients. What You’ll Do

The Product Owner is tasked with prioritizing epics and creating stories for their agile scrum team to initially bring retail life products and minimum viable experiences to market on the new platform, and then scale and deliver industry-leading components and service experiences in the future. The PO will work closely with the Product Manager, the assigned Scrum Master, Business Analyst, and developers to achieve success. You will be responsible for prioritizing the team’s work, ensuring user stories are well defined with acceptance criteria that reflect the story’s scope and deliver incremental value to customers. You will maintain and prioritize the backlog, conduct user acceptance tests (UAT), and accept work that meets business stakeholders’ and/or customers’ desired outcomes. Specific Responsibilities Include Define and prioritize the team backlog, including user stories, defects, and enablers, ensuring alignment with the program’s feature map. Actively participate in Program Increment (PI) planning sessions; refine epics prior to the PI to forester commitments; advise the scrum team on priorities and business capabilities; participate in daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos to help the team deliver value. Refine larger initiatives; ensure user stories have clear value and thorough acceptance criteria; support the scrum team with clarifying business expectations. Conduct user acceptance tests, accept work, and confirm the team delivers expected outcomes/value; demo accepted stories to the full program each sprint. Monitor customer signals, anticipate bottlenecks, make tradeoffs, and take acceptable risks to maximize benefit for customers and the business. Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders and cross-functional teams; manage dependencies; provide clarity on requirements to gain cross-team commitments and resolve blockers. Engage with stakeholders to seek clarity and validate business requirements/acceptance criteria. Understand NYL’s technical ecosystem and ability to work across value streams. Mentor technical scrum teams, enforce architectural standards, ensure APIs support strategic goals and technical excellence; map data fields, schemas, and relationships across internal and external systems for accuracy and interoperability. Data Integration Stewardship — represent the core modernization admin system in cross-functional efforts to map, standardize, and integrate data across systems, ensuring accuracy and secure information flow supporting business objectives. What You’ll Bring

Strong prioritization skills to distinguish essential work from future improvements. Comfort with informed risk-taking to drive innovation while balancing opportunity and risk. Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in business analysis in life, annuity, health or property & casualty insurance, financial services, technology delivery, or related fields. Ability to excel in team-oriented roles and collaborate effectively. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field. 3+ years of experience in scaled Agile delivery preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to engage with a wide range of team members and executives. Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $80,000-$135,000 Overtime eligible: Exempt Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes Sales bonus eligible: No Actual base salary determined by experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
