Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and monitor pheresis process following SOPs.
- Conduct all aspects of the pheresis procedure: donor set‑up, monitoring, disconnect, and equipment calibration.
- Evaluate donor vein performance, making adjustments to ensure product quality and donor safety.
- Educate donors on therapeutic products, screening, policies, and nutrition.
- Maintain alertness to donor reactions, record incidents, and assist or notify staff as needed.
- Document machine alerts, volume variances, and adverse events using the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA).
- Respond to complex equipment alarms, troubleshoot failures, and replace equipment as required.
- Monitor donor flow to assure continuous turnover and report issues to appropriate supervisors.
- Collect arm or whole‑blood samples for testing and accurately record donor data in the electronic system.
- Follow policies for hyper‑immune programs and maintain a clean, safe work environment per HSE/OSHA requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Cross‑train in other areas and perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum twelve (12) months experience in a medical or health‑care environment.
- For centers located in CA: state certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or current Registered Nurse by the State of California.
