Overview

The HR Liaison will play a central and critical role in the Departments of Microbiology & Immunology and Anatomy. The position involves all aspects of human resources activity in collaboration with the HR Shared Services teams and serves as an advisory resource to department staff and lab personnel concerning HR processes and transactions.

This role requires 2 days per week on‑site at the Parnassus Campus and the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining 3 days.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with assigned labs to gather documentation for hiring and renewals of Non‑Faculty Academic (NFA) positions, staff positions, volunteers, and without salary (WOS) appointments.
  • Submit and track all cases in People Connect; coordinate with the finance team to ensure appropriate funding and availability of funds.
  • Process initial funding entries in UCPath and serve as backup for HR liaison activities related to faculty and postdoc trainees.
  • Assist in HR process advisory and support across the department.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS with a major in a related field and 2 years of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective verbal and written interaction with staff at all levels.
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to multi‑task with demanding timeframes.
  • Working knowledge of common organization‑specific and other computer application programs.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a large institution with familiarity in academic and staff HR.
  • Experience working in an academic environment with faculty, non‑faculty academics, etc.
  • Minimum of 2 years of project management and coordinating experience.

Salary

Hourly rate: $29.05 – $53.50, subject to UC policy and additional approvals. Salary placement within the range is based on experience, internal equity, and, where applicable, collective bargaining agreements.
