Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day activities on the floor to ensure safety, cleanliness, and that operators have adequate materials and supplies.
Ensure 5S standards are met throughout the department and act as the 5S champion for the group.
Drive safety, quality, continuous improvement, associate development, team engagement, and operating results for the assigned area.
Train team members, set daily resource strategy, and monitor progress toward team goals.
Implement and enforce established Safety and Quality policies.
Provide coaching, feedback, and guidance to maintain area standards such as 5S and standardized work to takt; observe waste and risks.
Escalate issues or process disruptions to maximize productivity; act as a resource for team members.
Coach Operators in best practices to drive a safe and productive culture and improve employee engagement.
Assist the Supervisor with driving safety and instill a “safety first” mindset within the group.
Train, coach, and hold employees accountable for adhering to standardized work and maintenance of process parameters and records.
Provide regular feedback and coaching with positive reinforcement; identify opportunities for daily coaching and Kaizen activities.
Apply Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies to solve floor problems; perform production duties as needed to cover for absenteeism.
Drive 5S principles and support continuous improvement activities; manage shift handoffs and ensure effective information pass-down.
Own the daily schedule and manage resources to meet production targets; work within SAP to confirm production orders and resolve inventory errors.
Maintain and update metric boards; coordinate with Material Handlers and Clamp Drivers on raw material replenishment and finished goods staging.
Lead daily TPM efforts with operators and maintenance; escalate issues with context and data as needed.
Schedule time efficiently to engage with the team and ensure alignment with leadership standardized work (LSW).
Qualifications
Exposure to lean tools such as 5S, Root Cause/Corrective Actions, Standardized Work, KPIs, Daily Management System (Visual).
Ability to prioritize tasks and drive accountability within a team.
Aptitude for math, problem-solving, computers, and mechanics.
Attention to detail and good color vision; ability to work and communicate well with others.
Ability to map basic production processes and associated risks.
Environment: exposure to moving equipment; inside work; heat up to 90°F; humidity up to 80%; noise up to 85dB+.
Physical: Frequent standing, bending, and manual tasks; ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred; 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment; exposure to mechanical machinery; Lean/Six Sigma trained.
Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions. The hourly base pay range for this role is estimated to be $25 to $32.
