About The Role Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) New York office is looking for a

Structural Engineer 1

to join our team! We are a leading engineering firm known for quality, responsiveness, and a proven track record of success as a prime civil engineering firm. As a Structural Engineer 1, you will perform professional engineering work, including developmental assignments involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks under close supervision.

The primary responsibility is to review and check standard structural design calculations, perform structural analysis and design of standard bridge components using analysis software.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare project-related documents and internal correspondence

Perform and check quantity take-offs from contract plans

Use engineering analysis software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.

Able to learn and correctly apply relevant design specifications, including AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI, etc.

Apply advanced calculus, modern algebra, and statistical theory principles.

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.

Actively engage clients consistently to maintain and promote work.

Assist in preparing and presenting technical information to colleagues and clients.

Assist Project, Design, or Office Managers as requested.

Handle multiple projects simultaneously

Prepare reports, specifications, studies, and permits

Promote and foster excellence in all aspects of securing work for the firm and delivery of services

Minimum 1-3 years of relevant transportation design experience – including roadway, highway, and/or bridges

Master’s in Structural Engineering required

EIT required; or on track to acquire within next 6 months

MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Use engineering analysis software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.

Learn and correctly apply relevant design specifications, including AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI, etc.

Fundamental knowledge of structural engineering

Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment who can work on and contribute to several projects simultaneously

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
