Mechanical Engineer (Oil & Gas)
Location: Houston, TX (Onsite)
Client: Quest Global/Halliburton
Experience: 5-12 years
Mechanical Engineer with upstream oil & gas experience and Halliburton experience.
Key Responsibilities
To investigate and propose engineering solutions to address field and manufacturing issues on downhole assemblies.
Technical Review of the proposed solutions.
To review concessions, perform form‑fit‑function analysis and provide dispositions.
Perform stack‑up analysis, engineering hand calculations.
Using Structural Analysis, Fluid Mechanics, GD&T, Threads Calculations, Erosion Calculations, Materials and Secondary Processes, Static and Dynamic Seal Applications, analyze and provide solutions to various design issues.
Develops repair/rework plan to repair/rework the defective components to meet print requirements.
Review use of standard materials for various applications. Investigates use of alternate materials.
To create appropriate test plans to evaluate new design / design changes and coordinate with testing facilities.
Update BOM in PDM system to implement the design changes.
Required Skills
5+ years of experience working with Downhole drilling / MLWD tools in upstream oil and gas industry.
Product development experience, specifically in the component design area.
Strong handle on mechanical engineering concepts such as Structural Analysis, Fluid Mechanics, GD&T, Threads Calculations, Erosion Calculations, Materials and Secondary Processes, Static and Dynamic Seal Applications.
Stackup (Radial and linear) and engineering calculations.
GD&T knowledge and application.
CAD (SolidWorks) modelling and drafting.
Experience working with a PDM system.
Familiar with FEA (ANSYS).
