Senior Project Engineer – H. J. Russell & Company
Join H. J. Russell & Company as a Senior Project Engineer and work closely with the Project Manager to support construction activities for mission‑critical data center facilities.
Summary Works closely with the Project Manager on costing, scheduling, and subcontract relations. This role supports the advancement of technology that powers businesses, communities, and global communications.
Responsibilities
Writes scope for the Project Manager to review.
Writes major Purchase Order and subcontract agreements for review.
Responsible for project schedule updates.
Establishes project budget for review.
Conducts scope reviews with subcontractors under the Project Manager’s supervision.
Conducts meetings in the absence of the Project Manager and addresses issues on his behalf.
Keeps the superintendent informed of issues that affect fieldwork.
Communicates with architects via RFIs, telephone, sketches, and letters, and forwards information to the superintendent.
Reviews and becomes familiar with all drawings.
Ensures subcontractor submittals are reviewed, forwarded to architects, and returned on time.
Compiles the submittal register.
Tracks and costs all changes and extras to the original scope and obtains Project Manager approval.
Writes change orders to subcontractors and PCOs to owner for Project Manager approval.
Completes any other assignments as requested by the Project Manager.
Prepares monthly reports for review.
Works safely and encourages others to comply with safety rules and regulations.
Weekly Responsibilities
Attends and produces minutes for O/A/C and subcontractor coordination meetings.
Tracks material deliveries and production to ensure timely receipts.
Updates drawings, RFI log, submittal log, and budget as required.
Reviews construction progress and visits the job site to stay informed.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university; or three to eight years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; effective verbal communication before groups.
Mathematical Skills: Work with probability, statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, trigonometry; apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Frequently required to sit; use hands to handle objects and tools; reach with arms; talk or hear.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently up to 25 pounds.
Exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemical hazards, extreme temperatures, vibration, and moderate noise levels.
