Role The Contracts Director for Ingalls Shipbuilding is responsible for the overall negotiation, administration, management, and oversight of all prime contracts. This role works closely with the Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP), Naval Ship Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA). The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with deep expertise in US government contracting and a strong background in managing complex, performance-based construction and service contracts, specifically in the maritime or defense industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Administers, extends, negotiates and terminates standard and nonstandard contracts
Conducts proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities
Establishes, maintains, and provides training to the organization ensuring compliance with company and customer requirements
Examines estimates of material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness
Prepares bids; processes specifications, progress, and other reports; advises management of contractual rights and obligations; compiles and analyzes data; and maintains historical information
Must Have
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent in education, training and experience), plus a minimum of 10 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience
Master's degree and 8 years relevant experience
Nice to Have
Experience in maritime or defense industry
Experience with US government contracting and construction contracts
Engineering, finance and accounting, project management, supply chain management, or business administration background
