Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC)
Location: Asheville, NC
Assignment Type: Travel
Duration: 13 weeks
Schedule: 3x12 Nights
Pay: $2,327.40/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Job Description The Cardiovascular Progressive Care RN provides specialized care to post-operative cardiac and vascular surgery patients as well as complex medical cardiology cases. This role supports patients recovering from procedures including CABG, valve surgeries, AAA repair, thoracic surgeries, and more. Nurses in this unit administer cardiac drips, manage chest tubes and epidurals, and perform continuous telemetry monitoring in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-acuity step-down-level care for cardiac and vascular post-operative patients
Monitor and interpret telemetry and respond to arrhythmias
Manage cardiac medications including vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drips
Perform chest tube management, epidural pump management, tube feedings, and Glucommander insulin protocols
Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams
Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress in Cerner EMR
Float to other step-down or medical-surgical units as needed (ratios 1:5 SD, 1:6–7 MS)
Provide patient and family education and support
Maintain patient safety and participate in emergency response situations
Qualifications
Active RN license (NC or Compact)
Minimum 1 year recent Step-down/PCU experience required
Telemetry experience required
Cardiac/vascular surgery recovery experience preferred
CVICU background strongly preferred but not required
BLS & ACLS required
Strong clinical and cardiac medication management skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Must be available to work at least 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required
