Overview
Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is seeking a
Vice President of Engineering
to develop ruggedized solutions across a wide range of products and applications. In this role, you will oversee all stages of development—requirements, design, implementation, verification, continuing engineering, and customer support—within a high‑tech environment that encourages creative, analytical, and critical thinking.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and direction for engineering teams.
Manage product development, innovation, and engineering systems.
Ensure rigorous design reviews, technical audits, and compliance with customer specifications and contract scope.
Drive strategic initiatives, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and contribute to organizational leadership.
Lead team development, foster an empowered culture, and drive continuous improvement in engineering processes.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of engineering management experience with 20+ years in engineering (preferred).
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
Proven ability to manage engineering project development for customer‑driven products and internally driven R&D projects.
Deep understanding of software, mechanical, and electrical engineering principles.
Expertise in overseeing and optimizing engineering design tools (schematic capture, PCB design, drafting, 3D modeling, thermal management, etc.).
Knowledge of software development tools and Agile methods.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and solve complex problems.
Capability to mentor and develop talent.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently and independently.
Willingness to work onsite at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway, Verona, WI.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with embedded product form factors (VPX, COM Express, SOSA, VME, cPCI, ATCA).
Familiarity with military requirements (MIL‑STD 810, 461, 464, 704, 1275, DO‑160, 178).
Experience with product qualification (Shock/Vibe, Temp, Humidity, Altitude, EMI/EMC).
Familiarity with real‑time operating systems (Linux, VxWorks).
Experience with embedded technologies (CPU, FPGA, Network, SSD, DDR, XMC, TPM, IPMC).
