Collections Crew Supervisor - Public Utilities
Brunswick County Public Utility is currently accepting applications for a Crew Supervisor to join the Sewer Collections team. The position reports directly to the Collections Superintendent.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the work of mechanics and technicians involved in water distribution, water quality, backflow and cross connection, meter installation, work orders, service tap installation, preventative maintenance, repair, and operations of the utility systems.
Perform specialized skilled work related to the Brunswick County utility system and related appurtenances.
Prepare sketches and diagrams of proposed services and line repairs.
Oversee, monitor, and inspect work of assigned crew.
Perform cost analysis and assist in budget preparation.
Interpret drawings and as-built plans.
Assign and coordinate work orders for meter leaks, line breaks, utility line installations, pressure regulators, line flushing, etc.
Coordinate with Purchasing to acquire parts for operation and maintenance of the utility system.
Assist with and resolve complaints from utility customers and the public.
Serve as Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) and/or Backup ORC for the designated water system.
Assist with safety procedures and standard operating procedures.
Coordinate training required for maintenance personnel.
Utilize data from work‑order software to assist in the preparation of a variety of reports and records related to the utility system.
Qualifications
High school diploma (or GED) and seven (7) years’ experience in water distribution, wastewater collections, and/or construction industry; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Valid NC or SC driver license.
Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A or ability to obtain during the probationary period.
NC Grade IV Water Pollution Control Collection System Operator Certification or ability to obtain during the probationary period.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with work-order software (Lucity).
Supervisory experience highly desirable.
Excellent leadership skills, highly self-motivated, and the ability to work independently while exercising good judgement.
Physical Requirements Must be physically able to operate pump station equipment and motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force and/or up to 50 pounds of force more frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
