Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Advanced Heart Failure
The successful applicant will be an Advanced Practice Provider interested in working full‑time in the outpatient and inpatient care of patients with cardiac disease. The APP will join a high‑paced and thriving Cardiology Division at MUSC Health Heart & Vascular Columbia Medical Center.
Job Description Summary MUSC Health Heart & Vascular Columbia Medical Center Division is a nationally recognized referral center for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cardiac disease. It is accredited by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (3‑star award, 20 times), the Society of Chest Pain Centers, and is a BlueCross BlueShield Distinction Center for Cardiac Care.
Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a PA, or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN.
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a PA, FNP or ANP in Cardiology, Critical Care, or Cardiac Surgery.
Preferred: 2+ years as a PA, AGACNP or ACNP with cardiology and electrophysiology experience.
Licensure/Certification:
AGPNP/ANP (Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP or Adult NP): adult pts 13‑death, stable chronic disease management.
FNP: birth‑death, stable chronic disease management across lifespan.
AGACNP/ACNP (Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP/Acute Care NP): adult pts 13‑death, acutely ill or injured, technologically dependent.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required for adult inpatient positions.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required for pediatric inpatient positions.
DHEC and DEA license applications started prior to first day if applicable.
Job Duties
Provides direct care to patients through evaluating and treating heart transplant and LVAD patients in pre‑ and post‑operative settings and ambulatory service.
Performs central line and arterial line placement.
Conducts comprehensive history and physical examinations.
Treats based on history, physical, radiological, laboratory, and diagnostic test results according to practice agreement or scope of practice guideline.
Documents and bills for direct care provided.
Utilizes current research and evidence‑based decision‑making in all clinical practice.
Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
Engages in professional organizations and continuing education.
Potential to precept students and facilitate learning of new team members.
Maintains licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law.
Physical Requirements Continuous requirements to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting; ability to bend waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, use both hands and legs, perform repetitive motions, and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted. Must pass visual and respirator use screening. Must work in a latex‑safe environment.
