CTL Engineering is hiring a Project Manager for the Building Envelope and Roof Engineering division. The role will lead, grow, and manage projects focused on the roofing and building envelope arena, collaborating with institutions/municipal agencies, Architects, Engineers, and project teams to deliver assessments and solutions across the design/assessment/troubleshooting process. The projects will be primarily in Ohio. Travel requirements are based on client needs with minimal overnight stays (about 10% to 20% of the time). A company vehicle can be provided or you may use your own vehicle with reimbursement. Responsibilities
Successfully lead, grow, and manage Building Envelope and Roof Engineering projects. Lead the process of performing Property Condition Assessments to aid clients in managing facilities assets by examining the building envelope assembly and/or roof structure from both inside and out. Evaluate roof structures and building envelopes, including roofs and cladding such as masonry and curtain walls. Perform water penetration testing and recommend mitigation or repair measures. Predict and diagnose deficiencies such as water intrusion; apply knowledge of corrosion mechanisms and prevention; maintain strong understanding of codes, technical standards, specifications, and fenestration systems design. Develop and/or monitor construction budgets and schedules. Work independently on broad projects under the direction of the Department Manager with training and supervisory responsibilities for direct reports. Manage attention to client facility details and provide customized designs for remedial work. Observe and report on building envelope testing and construction and relay performance findings to project teams. Develop client relationships and contribute to service market growth, maintaining regular interaction with potential and existing clients. Train/mentor/develop less-experienced team members. Requirements
5-10+ years of experience defining scope of work, preparing proposals, and managing projects in Building Envelope and Roofing Structure arenas. Experience in Property Condition Assessments, building surveys, testing and analysis, and design for building envelope and roof remediation. Expertise in researching/investigating existing structures; strong background in forensic evaluation. Experience with infrared surveys and nuclear moisture surveys is preferred. Accreditations/licensure: RRO or RRC accreditation is a strong plus (or architecture design experience and Licensed Architect is a strong plus, or Civil Engineer is a strong plus). If not a registered Engineer or Architect, ability to become registered within 2 years is preferred. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Leadership and good communication skills; ability to lead a team and work cross-functionally with other teams. Knowledge of in-depth design and installation of primary building envelope materials, and emerging technologies for building exteriors. Ability to manage a maintenance program and provide expert testimony when needed. Strong knowledge of CAD and Microsoft Office. Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering preferred. Other Attributes
An acceptable driving record; reliable and on time. Team player mentality; strong communication skills. Ability to travel with overnight stays when needed. Read project plans and project manuals; quality minded and safety oriented; client-focused. Benefits
