Summary To develop and administer major engineering programs related to the various permitting functions of the district.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in engineering and 4 years post‑bacc experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering and 6 years post‑bacc experience
Associate's degree in engineering or engineering technology and 6 years experience or equivalent
License/Certification
Professional Engineer (PE) license in civil, civil highway, geo technical or structural engineering
Valid driver's license and/or access to transportation
Other Requirements
Motor Vehicle Record must meet minimum standards
Must have a telephone
Must be willing and able to be available for 24‑hour call
Trainee Option Candidates with an equivalent combination of 9+ years of relevant education and experience after high school may be considered and hired in trainee status.
Preferred Qualifications Resides within the District.
After‑hire Requirements Licensed Professional Engineer in New Hampshire within one year of employment.
Responsibilities
Coordinate permit application review process with various agencies and stakeholders.
Review, comment and direct changes to complex consultant‑designed projects, studies, reports and plans.
Inspect and monitor complex projects, coordinate major phases of construction, and direct field changes to protect public safety and highway integrity.
Direct, train and supervise engineering staff in evaluation of plans and specifications, application of engineering principles and access management techniques.
Develop, review, explain and defend current and long‑range department objectives related to the permit process.
Perform research and analysis of the state highway system to respond to public and governmental inquiries; maintain drainage inventory and MS4 compliance.
Supervise record‑keeping of permits, records, plans, deeds, easements and other documents for all highways and projects within the district.
Perform work in full conformance with risk management, safety, environmental standards, regulations and administrative orders.
