Position Summary The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is dedicated to contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer. As an integral part of the malignant hematology interdisciplinary team, the Specialist provides safe, evidence‑based, cost‑effective, and patient‑centered medication management. The role supports physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other staff in the hospital setting.

Responsibilities

Provide oversight for the safe and appropriate use of medication prescribing, dispensing, administering, and monitoring, and deliver clinical pharmaceutical care to optimize drug therapy for cancer patients via individualized treatment plans.

Perform medication order review, clarification, and verification, supervising accurate preparation and distribution of hazardous and non‑hazardous drugs per policies and procedures; process chemotherapy orders and conduct necessary double checks.

Develop, interpret, and provide medication‑related information and education for pharmacists, providers, nurses, and other healthcare personnel, along with medication‑therapy education and counseling for patients and caregivers.

Precept pharmacy students, residents, and other trainees; participate in clinical research and projects.

Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of medication‑related guidelines, policies, and standards; manage the medication‑use process to improve workflow, quality, and safety for patients and staff; oversee cost‑effective use of medications.

The Ideal Candidate

Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy or equivalent.

Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) certification in the area of specialty practice.

Relevant clinical pharmacist experience in the area of specialization.

Credentials & Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.

Licensed pharmacist in the state of Florida.

Completion of a PGY‑2 residency in Hematology/Oncology or another area of specialization, or at least 5 years of progressive clinical practice experience.

Applicants seeking Florida licensure by endorsement must have no National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) reports unless successfully appealed.

Full‑time; Day shift 7 on / 7 off.
