Construction utilities Inspector

for a federal construction project related to complex rail, transit, and other transportation projects in NY & NJ.

The ideal candidate has

5+ years

of progressive experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on rails, tunnels, soil, excavation, and large shafts.

If selected, candidates will need to provide digital proof of licensure and certification for all U.S.-based accolades, including academic degree, before time of interview. Information provided is handled with discretion and will be used purely for the benefit of employment with various government agency clients and associated background checks.

This position will be full-time, on-site. Candidates are expected to live in or near the

New York metropolitan

area.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform daily site inspections of excavation, shaft activities, and linear construction within

Perform daily site inspections of excavation and shaft activities to ensure work is conducted, according to project specifications, safety standards, and engineering plans.

Verify that excavation practices align with design requirements for tunneling and large shafts.

Verify work in accordance with specs and drawings.

Coordinate independent testing.

Coordinate contractor, subs and stakeholder field operations.

Enforce safety standards on-site, including adherence to OSHA and other regulatory safety protocols.

Identify potential safety hazards, report violations, and ensure contractors follow site-specific safety plans, especially around large shafts and excavation zones.

Inspect materials and equipment used for excavation and tunneling, checking for compliance with quality standards.

Document and report any deviations or deficiencies, working closely with contractors to address issues promptly to ensure quality throughout the project.

Maintain detailed records of daily work activities, site conditions, and inspection results.

Provide regular reports on progress, any issues encountered, and corrective actions taken, ensuring documentation aligns with project requirements.

Work closely with construction supervisors and engineers to address any concerns that arise during inspection.

Communicate inspection findings and collaborate on solutions to on-site issues, such as unexpected ground conditions or equipment adjustments.

Other related duties and tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working within multiple concurrent projects

5 - 10years

of experience in construction supervision/inspection

Experience with 26 kV TBM substation installation and/or design, technical aspects of generators and automatic transfer switches, and a significant amount of 480V heavy equipment power distribution components Required .

OSHA 10 at minimum (additional training will be provided, if required)

Ability to pass a TWIC and/or SWAC Background Check at High Level

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time

Must be authorized to work in the United States

Must be fluent in English (both written and spoken)
