Position Overview
This is a part‑time temporary position with a minimum of 20 hours per week and a maximum of 30 hours per week. The contract may end at any time based on department needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Case management
Interview witnesses and interrogate suspects
Conduct surveillance
Conduct thorough investigations, subpoena records, and other items needed for case presentation to the ADA
Conduct interviews with complainants, victims, witnesses, and suspects to obtain relevant facts
Conduct follow‑up investigations
Prepare detailed reports
Execute arrest and search warrants, conduct surveillance, and assist local, state, and federal partners in criminal investigations
File charges and testify in court
Assist other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in criminal investigations
Perform other assignments and duties as required
Minimum Requirements
Honorably retired peace officer
Minimum 15 years of experience in law enforcement
Minimum 2 years prior patrol and/or criminal investigative experience
Active TCOLE peace officer license
Willing to attend and complete additional training as required

Knowledge Of
Texas Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure, specifically Chapter 31
Arrest procedures
Harris County Metal Theft Regulations
Superion, JWEB, CJIS, CAD, DIMS, and JOTS computer systems
Skilled In
Proficient use of MS Word and Outlook
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Proficient in report writing
Ability To
Effectively manage a caseload
Prioritize and multitask in a fast‑paced environment to meet strict deadlines
Work independently and as part of a team
Work varying duty hours as needed, including weekends and holidays
Collaborate with outside law enforcement agencies and HCDAO
Preferences
Previous criminal investigative experience
Hours
