Job Summary Under general supervision, reporting to the Senior Director of Analytics & Client Solutions (Senior Director), the Junior Data Analyst supports the success of major gift development efforts at the University of South Carolina (UofSC) by providing data and performing analysis of annual, major and planned gift donors, prospects and alumni. Serves as a point of contact for assigned fundraising units to effectively translate reporting objectives and business requirements into technical specifications, report design and code and utilize Tableau, QlikView, and/or Microsoft Power BI and various other applications to document, design, develop, test and implement analysis, dashboards, extracts and other solutions in accordance with project plans, business requirements and specifications. Works closely with the Senior Director and team members to understand the needs of the organization, utilize system functionalities and perform continuous data quality improvements that allow for the implementation of sophisticated BI and performance management solutions that supports the fundraising efforts individually, at Campus, Colleges, Unit level and within the University system. Provides assistance as needed to those participating in efforts to investigate, identify, and fulfill internal and external reporting needs.
Responsibilities
Leverages ad-hoc query and other built-in system functionalities to design, maintain and support Standard queries, Recognition Programs, Giving Societies, Acknowledgement Letters, Direct Marketing Efforts, Mailings, Email Campaigns and other possibilities available with the Blackbaud CRM constituent relationship management system. Assists in the Uses Batch Import functions to enhance system by assisting with large data entry efforts, data quality projects, standardization, and/or other and conducts data exchange processes to include data updates from multiple sources.
Works collaboratively with the Senior Director and team to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data to provide quality information, analysis, and insight by adhering to quality standards and ensuring data is accurately collected and stored within the relationship management database. Assists to perform testing and validation of data sets and identifies variances and elements which will require routine review.
Addresses data quality work strategies, enhancements, and/or process improvements with the guidance of the Senior Director, and performs tasks that support data and analytics solutions for prospecting, fundraising and stewardship. Supports assigned fundraising units and staff for reporting requests, meeting end users to understand needs and translating data into effective business requirements, technical specifications, and reports.
Collaborates with the Senior Director and other Analysts to review and develop interactive and detailed charts and reports to communicate insights regarding prospects and fundraising initiatives, as well as fundraiser performance and progress reports utilizing the CRM database and other data sources, software, tools and platforms. Ensures the accuracy of reported information and charts and communicates metrics results and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Assists in the development and implementation of data and analytics solutions and services that support prospecting, fundraising and stewardship at the University of South Carolina. Elicit requirements, translate and analyze data needs into effective business requirements, technical specifications, report designs and/or code, and work collaboratively to design, create, and interpret report and visualize statistics in graphs and charts.

Required Education & Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications Some knowledge in an area such as Advancement Services, Prospect Analysis, Business Analysis, Alumni Development, or Higher Education Fundraising Operations. Ability to translate operational and technical needs into complete and deliverable solutions to ensure client acceptance. Previous experience with Enterprise CRM software and familiarity with Blackbaud CRM or other higher education and/or nonprofit donor system. Design and development experience using Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, Microsoft Business intelligence, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), and/or SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Some knowledge of technical and analytical skills with the ability to process, interpret and analyze constituent data using their broad knowledge base of various database data types.
Some ability to identify and predict trends; communicate data results; provide in-depth and meaningful insight; and make appropriate recommendations based on results.
The ability to develop and maintain collegial working relationships and successfully work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Good attention to detail and outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Good time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks despite interruption.
The flexibility to manage a large volume of work by organizing and prioritizing tasks to meet shifting priorities and deadlines.
