The
Solutions Director, Manufacturing
role operates at a strategic level with Microsoft’s top Manufacturing and Mobility customers, requiring deep engagement and understanding of the manufacturing industries and their challenges. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in Factory and Operations Technology. The Solutions Director acts as the industry leader with a customer focus and strives to build relationships and become a trusted adviser to key business decision makers, helping them digitally transform their business.
Responsibilities
Become a trusted advisor to customers and our sales teams to spark innovation and re‑imagine the future by facilitating envisioning/ideation sessions and developing multi‑horizon roadmaps.
Ignite, shape, and secure market‑making business partnerships by leveraging business relationships with CxOs and Business Executives.
Drive account‑based revenue by defining and landing industry plays across Manufacturing & Mobility accounts and helping build a qualified sales pipeline.
Lead and orchestrate sales activities and customer engagement in partnership with account teams to deliver value, build trust, and exceed customer expectations as a strategic advisor through direct customer engagements such as at Microsoft Executive Briefing Center.
Develop thought leadership assets and best practices that can be leveraged by others to increase the success of the business and Microsoft.
Collaborate with external partner ecosystem (e.g., business leaders, GSIs, ISVs) on client and partner planning and developing industry‑specific strategies that add credibility and depth.
Amplify externally/internally thought leadership on unique industry perspectives and innovations to accelerate Microsoft’s credibility/brand/mindshare.
Embody Microsoft’s culture and values by modeling a growth mindset, contributing to others’ success, and delivering impactful results that build on collective ideas and efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years experience in business consulting, sales, sales operations, information technology (IT), account management, business development, marketing, IT field sales, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
6+ years experience in near‑term strategy (2 years out), management consulting, sales, or finance.
5+ years manufacturing industries domain expertise.
Experience in product engineering and understanding of manufacturing factory operations technology.
Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field AND 5+ years of marketing, strategy, sales, sales leadership, program management, project management, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years of marketing, strategy, sales, sales leadership, program management, project management, business planning, consulting, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience OR equivalent experience.
Experience working in business roles at a company in the manufacturing industries.
Industry solution selling experience.
Industry specific sales or consulting position within an IT consulting company.
Business development and sales skills.
Market development skills.
Executive presence.
Ability to work across multiple organizations and proven track record of being able to collaborate with both partners and customers.
Sales Strategy Enablement IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 – $251,900 per year. Specific ranges for the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area are $165,600 – $272,300 per year.
