Overview Hartmann Young, a precision oncology diagnostics company, is seeking a

Medical Laboratory Director

to lead its CLIA laboratories in Massachusetts. The Director reports to the CEO and oversees clinical, scientific, regulatory, and administrative activities.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, NY State CLEP, and other regulatory requirements.

Provide clinical guidance to physicians and patients, interpreting test results and consulting with healthcare providers.

Manage quality assurance programs, monitor laboratory performance, and implement continuous process improvements.

Lead personnel management, training, and foster a culture of quality care.

Collaborate with the Laboratory Operations head on budgeting, technology evaluation, and strategic planning.

Job Requirements

Qualified under CLIA personnel regulations with a proven record of overseeing clinical testing services.

Responsible for accurate, timely laboratory results to enhance patient care and coordinate laboratory management decisions.

Knowledge of accreditation standards (CLIA, CAP, NY SDOH) and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Education:

Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field (chemistry, biology, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology). ABCC, ABMGG, and/or ABB certifications strongly desired.

M.D., D.O., or M.D. with eligibility for valid Massachusetts and North Carolina medical licenses preferred.

Certificate of Qualification in Oncology, Molecular and Cellular Tumor Markers (NYSDOH).

Certifications: American Board of Pathology (ABP) in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology. ABP in Molecular Genetic Pathology preferred.

Experience:

At least 10 years in a high‑complexity CLIA laboratory focused on molecular diagnostics, including 5 years in a leadership role. Participation in multidisciplinary cancer care with direct communication to treating physicians.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

In‑depth oncologic pathology knowledge, regulatory expertise, strong leadership and communication, program evaluation, problem‑solving, and relationship building. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and maintain high employee morale. Effective collaboration across corporate functions to advance company objectives.
