Responsibilities
Responsible for all plant engineering functions including manufacturing engineering, process engineering, tooling, facility and equipment maintenance.
Leads and drives activities related to continuous improvement (e.g., cycle times, scrap, quality, material cost reduction, regrind implementation, etc.).
Reviews and establishes contingencies / justifications for Capital Appropriation Requests, department budgets, and personnel salary plans.
Develops plans for process improvement and will have specific areas of accountability in its execution.
Provides support on new product launch tooling, providing the manufacturing input for development of new process and improvements to existing processes and tooling.
Ensures new tools and processes from launch team are ready for production and ensures smooth execution in operations.
Directs all engineering and maintenance functions in the plant, assigns responsibilities and ensures compliance to expectations of performance.
Develops personnel in technical execution, planning, and decision making to positively impact business financials.
Mentoring/Coaching through group communication and 1 on 1’s.
Influences supporting groups and operations.
Enforces safety rules daily and actively intervenes to correct unsafe actions and conditions.
Conducts daily observations of PPE use and safe work practices adherence and coaches employees as needed.
Any and all other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Level Degree (Engineering, Technical Engineering or similar).
7-10 years of experience with leading engineering and maintenance.
5-9 years of experience within the automotive industry.
Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
Superior problem solving and decision‑making ability.
Mechanical aptitude for problem solving.
Proven ability to effectively lead a team and drive operational improvements.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
3–5 years of injection molding experience.
Understanding of scientific molding concepts.
Experience with various injection molding technologies.
3–5 years leading manufacturing engineering.
3–5 years with vacuum forming and foam-in-place processes.
Equivalent work experience may also be considered for this position.
