involves working under the direct supervision of the RN to perform a variety of duties in the operating room, creating and maintaining a sterile field, and functioning as a member of the sterile team. Location:
Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley What You Will Do
Establishes a sterile field including instruments and supplies required for specific operations. Always follows aseptic techniques when opening sterile supplies and setting up procedures. Assists in draping of patient and establishment of sterile field. Works with the OR team to prepare and pass instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies needed in the operative procedures and maintains a correct count. Prepares and anticipates additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the procedure. Measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents and irrigation solutions utilized during the surgical procedure. Holds retractors and other devices under direction of the surgeon. Assists in proper care and handoff of specimens from surgical field to RN and verifies correct specimen labeling. Assists in cleaning all equipment, carts and rooms after operative procedures. Cleans and prepares used instruments for terminal sterilization per hospital policy. Provides care to age-related needs of patients served on the unit. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital, which underpin patient-centered interactions and the patient-experience framework. High School Diploma or GED Required Associate's Degree Preferred Completion of operating room or surgical technician course Required Experience Qualifications
1+ year to 2 years of experience as an Operating Room Technician Preferred Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Good communication skills with the ability to read, write and understand the English language Ability to work as a valued team member Problem identification and resolution skills Effective organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, physicians and ancillary staff Knowledgeable about current practice and compliance requirements within the job role and specialty Strong computer skills Strong attention to detail Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
National Center of Competency Testing (NCCT) certification preferred Licenses and Certifications
Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required CST - Certified Surgical Tech preferred Equality and Experience Commitments
