Job Overview
The Academic Department Manager (ADM) in the Division of Applied Mathematics manages the Division's financial, administrative, and human resource operations, ensuring compliance with Brown University policies and supporting the Chair in strategic planning.
Responsibilities
Oversee financial, administrative, and HR operations for the Division.
Supervise an administrative staff of seven and implement procedures affecting faculty, staff, and students.
Facilitate short‑ and long‑range strategic plans aligned with the Division’s research, instructional, and financial missions.
Support the Chair in articulating policies, protocols, and communications to staff and faculty.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5–7 years of experience in academic operations, finance, or grant management (preferred).
Excellent computer skills, including financial reporting systems and advanced Excel.
Strong experience in financial data analysis, planning, and accounting.
Managerial, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Supervisory experience is a plus.
Experience in higher‑education academic programs.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
