Role Description This is a 60% time, on-site Controller role located in Seattle, WA. The Controller will oversee day-to-day financial operations, including managing accounting activities, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role also involves monitoring financial controls, supporting annual audits, maintaining financial records, and working closely with the museum’s leadership to develop long-term fiscal strategies. This is a forward-looking individual with an optimistic outlook and the humor and patience necessary to work within a transformative environment. As a member of the Fiscal team, the Controller supervises two people, while interacting collaboratively with all levels of the organization and serving as a thought partner to the CFO. Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including managing accounting activities and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain robust financial controls. Support annual audits and maintain accurate financial records. Collaborate with museum leadership to develop long-term fiscal strategies. Supervise two staff members and work with all levels of the organization as a thought partner to the CFO. Qualifications

Proficiency in financial reporting, accounting principles, including GAAP compliance. Skilled in overseeing payroll processes, managing accounts payable/receivable, and maintaining financial controls. Familiarity with nonprofit accounting practices and fund accounting is preferred. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with leadership and external stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification or equivalent is preferred. Proficiency in financial software tools (MIP/Sage is a plus) and Microsoft Office suite.
