What You Will Have An Opportunity To Do
BASIC FUNCTION: The Group Sales Manager – Business Development is 100% a prospector, focused exclusively on proactively identifying, soliciting, and qualifying new group and convention business for the property. This role does not manage accounts or close business. Instead, this role drives top-of-funnel activity and delivers qualified group events leading to the on-site sales team for proposal, site inspection, and contracting. The ideal candidate is a relentless prospector with strong Silicon Valley market knowledge, a competitive spirit, and a proven track record of uncovering new opportunities. This is a fully remote, full-time position based in Silicon Valley. The ideal candidate is a proven hotel/resort sales professional with deep market knowledge and established relationships in Silicon Valley.
Essential Functions
Proactively solicit, identify, and qualify new group and convention leads through research, cold outreach, networking, and industry connections in the Silicon Valley and Bay Area markets. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, third-party planners, and local industry partners. Consistently perform high-volume outreach through cold calls, emails, LinkedIn, and in-person networking to generate new leads. Generate and deliver qualified leads to the on-site sales team for proposal, site inspection, and closing. Maintain an active pipeline of qualified prospects, measured by weekly and monthly activity goals. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prospecting activities, leads, and account information in CRM systems. Aggressively uncover new business in underpenetrated industries and verticals. Leverage creativity and persistence to break into new accounts. Monitor competitive activity and industry trends, sharing insights with the sales team to support strategy. Represent the property at local networking functions, trade shows, and client events as needed. Partner closely with the on-site sales team to ensure smooth lead handoff, collaboration, and follow-up.
Marginal Functions
Provide input for marketing campaigns, promotions, and sales collateral targeted to Silicon Valley clientele. Assist with hosting FAM trips or special events when clients are referred for on-site experiences. Participate in ongoing sales training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training & Work Experience Minimum of 3–5 years current hotel or resort sales experience in the Silicon Valley market (applications without this experience will not be considered). Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience. Demonstrated success in proactive sales, business development, or lead generation with measurable results. Strong knowledge of Silicon Valley corporate, tech, and association markets, including industry contacts and buying patterns. Exceptional verbal and written communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Highly self-motivated and goal-driven, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment. Proficiency with hotel CRM and sales systems (Delphi FDC, Maestro, or similar) preferred.
Work Schedule
Remote, full-time, based in the Silicon Valley market. Flexible schedule based on prospecting activities, networking events, and client availability.
Compensation
$80,000 $95,000
