at Texas State University seeks to develop a pool of candidates for possible temporary/nontenured faculty to teach in Philosophy or Religious Studies. For information about the department visit the Department of Philosophy website. Temporary/nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester-by-semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental need. Successful candidates may teach at the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses and/or online, depending on the needs of the academic department. First employment under this posting is for the 2025-2026 academic year. This posting is not intended to convey that such a need currently exists. Applicants applying for a pool faculty position will be available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case the need arises. Required Qualifications A Master of Arts (MA) or its equivalent in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or a related field, with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in the relevant discipline is required by the time of appointment. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in the specific area of instruction. Previous teaching experience is preferred.
