Overview
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the procurement of commodities. This is a senior position with direct corporate responsibilities. The role coordinates with manufacturing, warehouse, and branch operations to maintain appropriate inventory levels and to purchase goods and services that meet quality requirements and specifications, while building and maintaining strategic relationships with suppliers/partners. Responsibilities
Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate supply chain activities. Commodity management support, including process improvements and supplier integration. Optimize inventory by analyzing needs based on sales trends and inventory levels to achieve service level and inventory goals. Manage customer expectations and resolve issues. Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress, and resolve issues with suppliers. Develop and implement purchasing/demand planning/inventory policies, including SOPs and KPIs. Review and process claims against suppliers. Support import/export compliance procedures as required. Maintain an up-to-date database for all orders to support analysis and reporting. Advise departments and business units on lead times to obtain products or services. Manage team performance and identify development opportunities. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in a purchasing role, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with an ERP system; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is an asset Exceptional oral and written communication skills for all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders Contract management expertise with strong negotiation skills, including international freight charges and brokerage; strong knowledge of Canadian customs regulations Understanding of integrated supply chain and logistics concepts Excellent forecasting, analytical, and interpretative skills ERP implementation and user experience Experience in international purchasing and dealing with domestic and overseas partners Ability to define and support the business strategy for the department/team Strong organizational and leadership skills, with diplomacy, conflict resolution, and people management abilities Ability to build and maintain relationships with corporate departments and key business partners Seniority level
