SUMMARY: Under general direction of the Director of Finance, performs a variety of professional accounting duties, administers various automated sub-systems, monitors general ledger accounts, prepares and reviews entries to ensure the accuracy of all account figures, and prepares accounting/finance reports and summaries. RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for day-to-day accounting for Gateway affiliated entities, including the timely preparation of monthly financial reports and analyses. Maintains compliance with closing schedules of Brown University Health and its affiliates.

Maintain and coordinate accounting interface for significant sub-systems (revenue, payroll, accounts payable) that feed the general ledger system.

Review and prepare journal entries; ensure all activity is recorded, corrections and adjustments are made, and closing entries are prepared. May coordinate resolution of significant budget variances for the closing process.

Review trial balances to identify input and accounting errors; resolve errors through analysis and correction entries.

Gathers data and assists in the preparation and consolidation of complex financial and statistical statements and summaries for Gateway Healthcare and affiliated entities.

Analyze general ledger accounts by reviewing entries, compiling balances, and interpreting trends; may maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.

Conduct special analyses and work on special projects; prepare ad-hoc financial and statistical reports; respond to information requests.

Coordinate with Financial Operations and Information Systems personnel to update, reconcile, and report assigned areas of responsibility.

May prepare annual information reporting returns and annual tax returns for Gateway Healthcare and its entities.

Assist with the preparation of schedules and analyses for the annual financial statement audit; interact with audit staff as needed.

Through Brown University Health’s Service Quality Initiative, seek and develop methods to improve efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations and initiate process improvements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

Must be computer literate, especially in spreadsheet and word processing programs.

EXPERIENCE:

Three or more years of accounting experience including preparation of multi-company financial statements, preparation of annual tax filings, and extensive microcomputer applications and financial reporting, preferably in a health care environment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Functional supervision for up to four full-time equivalent personnel.

Supervision includes assigning work, scheduling, providing guidance, and input for performance evaluations.

Pay Range $73,216.42-$120,781.75
