About the Role As a CBRE Senior Building Engineer, you will coordinate service and maintenance of complex building system operations and perform various areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling. You will lead a small team of Building Engineers and Maintenance Technicians.
Responsibilities
Provide formal supervision to employees.
Monitor training and development of staff.
Conduct performance evaluations and coaching.
Oversee recruiting and hiring of new employees.
Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities.
Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff.
Set and track staff and department deadlines.
Mentor and coach as needed.
Assign work orders and estimate the time and materials needed to complete repairs.
Maintain inventory of supplies and tools.
Perform maintenance and repairs to advanced mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, government agency, and company directives related to building operations and safety.
Develop an energy management program.
Ensure systems operate efficiently.
Oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors.
Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
Direct implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure building machinery and systems meet or exceed rated life.
Perform repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
Review and sign off on inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing.
Apply advanced knowledge to develop new methods for accomplishing objectives.
Showcase expertise in own discipline and knowledge of other disciplines.
Coach others to develop expertise in most or all areas within the function.
Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values.
Anticipate potential objections and persuade others to adopt alternative viewpoints.
Impact achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives across multi-disciplinary teams.
Work guided by functional policies that impact design of procedures and policies.
Contribute to new products, processes, standards, and operational plans.
Communicate difficult and complex ideas with influence.
What You'll Need Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of Building Engineering or related experience.
In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred.
Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.
Oregon Limited Maintenance Electrical (LME) license preferred.
Certificates & Licenses Preferred certification in two or more of the following: Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC and Refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair.
Other Skills & Abilities
Meet physical requirements: stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs or more.
Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.
Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents.
Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
