Responsibilities
Plans, organizes and delivers physical therapy programs to help clients/patients/residents recover and improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength and prevent deformities.
Conducts examinations, evaluations, and interventions for clients/patients/residents affected by injury or disease.
Uses appropriate tools and techniques to administer physical therapy interventions following safeguards.
Documents client/patient/resident information for evaluation and establishes therapeutic plans, modifying them as necessary.
Educates clients/patients/residents and their family members about treatment plans/schedules and recommended home exercises.
Applies age-related treatments and evaluations relevant to the needs of clients/patients/residents.
Maintains knowledge of current research and incorporates it into daily treatment.
May treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnoses and disorders and demonstrates documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Adheres to accepted clinical practice guidelines of the professional organization.
Exhibits flexibility with variable work schedules/assignments and participates in activities to promote the department and organization.
Collaborates with providers, case managers, third party payers, public organizations, and contractual partners; may supervise assistants, aides, and students as part of care delivery.
Provides ongoing education and training to peers as determined by department leadership.
Performs other related duties as requested by the manager.
Based on facility needs, may focus on post-acute, long-term care and home health care environments.
Qualifications
Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as a Physical Therapist.
When applicable, valid driver's license may be required.
Obtains and maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
