Job Details

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our team in the Civil, Commercial and Industrial Construction industry. This role will manage and oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, and the development of internal control policies and procedures. This is a critical leadership role within the organization and will impact financial operations and strategic direction. You will be an expert in construction accounting, job costing and WIP reporting. You will partner with PMs and field leaders to drive informed business decisions and estimates. You will report directly to the CEO and be a key strategic leader supporting the company's growth goals and scaling efforts.

Responsibilities

Overseeing all financial and accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, cash management, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.

Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.

Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.

Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

Managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Coordinating the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.

Monitoring debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.

Working closely with project management teams to develop financial plans and ensure the profitability of construction projects.

Managing Work in Progress (WIP) schedules and reporting.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree or CPA certification is preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry, with a focus on commercial and civil construction.

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, with a strong understanding of GAAP.

Experience with creating financial statements and financial reporting.

Proven experience with financial and accounting software systems.

Strong working knowledge of Work in Progress (WIP) schedules.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees and management.

High attention to detail and accuracy.
