The Key Account Manager (KAM) will play a pivotal role in shaping this new business from the ground up—building strategic partnerships, driving adoption, and amplifying the Kemin brand as a trusted force in animal health. Maintain strong relationships with clients and partners on-site. Develop and manage sales projections to support business growth. Oversee and control expenses to ensure budget alignment and profitability. Lead introductions and relationship management for key accounts. Build forecast reports to support production and inventory management. Establish a territorial sales call plan to optimize time and money. Implement customer acquisition and retention programs. Lead Kemin’s business unit expansion and sales growth in the territory. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in developing and implementing a marketing plan for the territory. Carry out specific responsibilities in each step of the sales process and identify prospective customers. Develop, execute, document, and maintain customer sales projects to exceed growth expectations for the territory. Author and execute strategic plans for key customers and establish relationships at all levels of the customers\' organization. Deliver technical sales presentations on Kemin products/services and cooperate with product development efforts. Close sales and implement startup programs; obtain an average of 20 meetings with customers each month. Achieve consistent growth in sales and gross margin within each assigned account; continue relationship building after the sale. May work with other Account Managers in a team selling approach and mentor account representatives. Attend industry tradeshows, conferences, and events; travel up to 75%. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a related scientific field, business, or closely related field with 7+ years of sales experience. PhD in a related field highly preferred. Must have and maintain an insurable driving record. Solid understanding of biological sciences to prepare and present detailed technical and commercial presentations to prospective customers. Prior experience in managing sales projects to a successful completion; high energy, strong time management, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office and database development programs; ability to train others in these systems. Ability to travel up to 75%. A post-offer background check and drug screen is required. Additional pre-employment requirements may be necessary based on position.
