Position Summary:
The Plant Accountant is responsible for recording and reconciling plant receipts, shipments, and transfers while ensuring accurate volumetric and financial reporting. This position supports monthly close activities, prepares EIA government reporting, and assists with cost accounting functions. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies in a fast‑paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities: Operational Accounting:
Record and reconcile all
plant receipts, shipments, and transfers
accurately and timely.
Perform
monthly volumetric reconciliations
and support month‑end close activities.
Prepare and submit
EIA (Energy Information Administration)
weekly, monthly, and annual reports.
Serve as a
backup to other plant accountants
and assist with cost accounting duties.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare journal entries, maintain general ledger accounts, and reconcile sub‑ledgers.
Compile and analyze financial information to support general ledger and financial statements.
Conduct account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and compliance with GAAP.
Review and resolve accounting variances or issues as they arise.
SAP & Systems Management:
Coordinate SAP postings of HEP pipeline and terminal movements; review periodic shipper statements.
Monitor Toptech interface feeds into SAP for accuracy and report deficiencies.
Evaluate SAP movement errors and prepare specialized month‑end product movement reports.
Measure volumes and track
actual vs. budgeted
results by site.
Collaboration & Support:
Partner with internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies and data inconsistencies.
Track and process all branding master file additions, changes, and de‑branding.
Support ad hoc reporting, audits, and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications: Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Experience:
3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within plant, operations, or revenue accounting environments.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in revenue or cost accounting and exposure to energy or manufacturing operations preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Intermediate understanding of accounting practices, reconciliations, and analysis.
Proficiency with
SAP ,
Microsoft Excel , and accounting software systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
