Overview
Vaco by Highspring is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to serve as the top financial executive for a growing organization. This position reports directly to the Company President and oversees all aspects of the company's financial operations, including treasury management, planning, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and funding strategies, while leading a team of 3 direct and 10 indirect reports. The role acts as a key strategic advisor to ownership, ensuring financial readiness, operational efficiency, and data integrity across the business. The candidate will drive accountability, improve processes, and leverage analytics to support informed decision-making. Our ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong attention to detail who is assertive, collaborative, and hands-on, balancing traditional financial stewardship with forward-thinking leadership in cost control, technology integration, and fraud prevention. Base pay range
$100,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr Key Responsibilities
Treasury Management: Oversee daily cash position, ACHs, wires, and fraud prevention protocols Financial Management: Manage all loans, lines of credit, funding, and paydowns Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and present financial statements and tax returns to ownership and lenders Audit & Tax: Coordinate annual external audits and prepare supporting tax schedules General Ledger Oversight: Review and maintain balance sheet, cash, and loan accounts Team Leadership: Supervise AR/AP managers, payroll, prepaids, deposits, merchant services, loss prevention, unbilled revenue, COGS, and tax accruals Systems Optimization: Maintain and optimize the accounting system (Business Central) for accuracy and efficiency Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with executive leadership, IT, HR, and legal on financial and operational initiatives; support IT and software development projects to enhance financial systems and reporting processes Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required) CPA or CMA certification (preferred) 7+ years of proven financial and managerial expertise with demonstrated leadership ability In-depth understanding of GAAP and relevant federal, state, and local financial regulations Hands-on, "roll-up-your-sleeves" approach with strong service orientation Experience with project management and software implementation Familiarity with systems such as Business Central, Concur, TriumphPay, Highway, Paylocity, Synergize, and Power BI (major plus) Employee Benefits
