Job Information
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the Union.
Department, Hours, and Location
DEPARTMENT : Public Transportation
HOURS OF WORK : Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00
LOCATION : 3600 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at management discretion and with department head approval. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.

Example of Duties / Responsibilities
Under the direction of management, coordinates and monitors grants activities. Serves as an accounting professional with the responsibility of accurately reporting and tracking financial activities as it relates to grants for the Public Transportation Department (PTD).
Maintain grant files in the development and maintenance of internal record keeping and accounting controls.
Verifies funds for expenditures ensuring compliance with all federal and state grant requirements. Provides financial control through the processing of accounts payables/receivables, purchase requisitions, vouchers, and journal entries.
Prepares and/or reviews applications, contracts, agreements, amendments, and other grant related documents. Performs other duties as assigned to support the department.
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline
and
two (2) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.
OR a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
and
two (2) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.
OR an Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline
and
four (4) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.
OR a High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
and
six (6) years of professional accounting, payroll, or similar work experience.
Must possess and/or obtain: Satisfactory background check (criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire) and a valid State of Alaska driver’s license with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees.
