Job Summary
The Department of Cell & Developmental Biology (CDB) at the University of Michigan Medical School (Ann Arbor) is seeking a highly-driven scientist to work as a Research Investigator. The ideal candidate will be supervised by the Principal Investigator in a cell biology and virology laboratory that studies the basic mechanisms of protein quality control, as well as the cellular infection mechanisms of DNA and RNA viruses. Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will lead a program focused on clarifying how the human papillomavirus (HPV) hijacks the intracellular retrograde transport pathway to cause infection. In this leadership position, the candidate will: 1) conduct their own individual research projects; 2) mentor graduate students and research technicians; 3) help in generating data for manuscripts and grant applications; and 4) write and submit their own grant applications as a step to acquire an independent position. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
