In order to ensure your application is complete, you must complete the following:## Job Title:Assistant Professor-Clinical## Department:Dentistry | Pre-Doctoral Restorative and ProstheticThe Ohio State University College of Dentistry is seeking applicants for a full-time clinical-track faculty position as General Practice Residency (GPR) Program Director at the rank of Assistant /Associate Professor in the Division of Restorative and Prosthetic Dentistry.The GPR Program Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, administration, and academic components of the GPR program within the College of Dentistry. This individual will ensure that residents receive high-quality, comprehensive training in general dentistry, while maintaining compliance with accreditation standards, institutional policies, and best practices in dental education. The GPR Program Director will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and residents to deliver exceptional educational experiences and contribute to the ongoing development of the program. Core responsibilities will include didactic, clinical instruction and curriculum development; mentoring doctoral students; and participation in college, university, and community service. Candidates must demonstrate a passion for dental education. The successful candidate will have a strong desire to contribute to and participate in a humanistic and inclusive environment of learning and discovery. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.**Performance Objectives*****Program Administration:**** Develop and implement program policies, objectives, and curriculum in accordance with institutional goals and accreditation standards (e.g., Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)).* Oversee recruitment, selection, and admissions of residents, ensuring a diverse and qualified cohort.* Develop and manage the program budget, allocating resources effectively to ensure the program’s success and sustainability.* Ensure that GPR residents receive comprehensive clinical and didactic education in general dentistry.* Coordinate resident scheduling, clinical rotations, and academic activities in collaboration with faculty and other departments.* Monitor residents' academic performance, provide guidance, and implement remediation plans when necessary.* Conduct regular program evaluations and assessments to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with institutional and accreditation standards.* Conduct annual staff reviews and evaluations per the university guidelines.***Resident Supervision and Mentorship:**** Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to residents throughout their training.* Conduct regular individual or group meetings to assess resident progress and offer support.* Encourage resident involvement in research, professional development, and community outreach initiatives.* Foster a positive and collaborative learning environment that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving.***Faculty and Staff Collaboration:**** Work closely with faculty members to ensure effective teaching, clinical supervision, and curriculum delivery.* Recruit, train, and mentor GPR faculty to maintain high standards of clinical education and patient care.* Coordinate with other departments within the dental school and health system to facilitate rotations and interdisciplinary collaboration.***Accreditation and Compliance:**** Maintain compliance with all accreditation requirements and ensure the program adheres to the highest academic, clinical, and ethical standards.* Prepare for and participate in accreditation site visits, reporting, and audits.* Stay updated with the latest trends, research, and best practices in general dentistry and residency education.***Community and Professional Engagement:**** Represent the GPR program at local, regional, and national meetings or conferences.* Foster relationships with external healthcare institutions, clinics, and organizations for potential collaborative opportunities and clinical placements for residents.* Promote the GPR program to prospective students and applicants.**Education and Experience Requirements*****Required*****:**Candidates must have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent degree and a certificate from a CODA-accredited advanced education GPR program. Applicants must also possess qualifications required to obtain an Ohio a dental license and hospital privileges at the OSU medical center. Information on state dental licensure is available at***Desired***:Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and experience in the application of advanced digital technology in dental education and an MS, PhD, EdD, or other advanced degree.Candidates must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a desire to create an environment that promotes collegiality, collaboration, and cultural diversity among members of various educational, research, and service-related communities.
