Position Overview
The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is hiring a Secretary 1 to join the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team.
Facility: Western Connecticut Mental Health Network (WCMHN)
Address: 95 Thomaston Avenue, Waterbury, CT
Schedule: Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Responsibilities
A full range of secretarial functions and administrative activities for the ACT team
Organizing and supporting office activities, correspondence, reports, minutes, agendas, etc.
Review and screen incoming correspondence, arrange and coordinate meetings, and prepare weekly tracking forms for the program
Assist supervisor in collecting reports to meet fidelity standards
Prepare and track ACT data, coordinate schedules, and arrange psychiatric appointments
Conduct appointment reminders, arrange transportation for clients, and manage the money‑management program for ACT clients
Prepare legal documents, take and transcribe meeting minutes, request medical records from outside agencies, and perform data entry and telecommunication functions as needed
Greet and direct visitors
Answer phones, take messages, and respond to inquiries requiring knowledge of terminology, organization, and unit purpose

DMHAS is a health care agency whose mission is to promote overall health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of services that foster dignity, respect, and self‑sufficiency. WCMHN coordinates clinical, fiscal, and administrative oversight of region‑5 contracted and state‑operated mental health services.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications – General Experience : Two (2) years of experience above the routine clerk level in office support or secretarial work
Minimum Qualifications – Substitutions Allowed : College training in secretarial sciences may be substituted for the general experience (up to 1 year)
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in outpatient settings within the community
Experience managing large volumes of paperwork
Experience with mental health and/or substance abuse services
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Experience using formulas and tracking data in Excel
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
Experience recording meeting minutes
