Position Overview Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma‑informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.

General Summary The Physician Assistant (PA) in Zepf Center’s Primary Care Department provides comprehensive, patient‑centered primary care services within an integrated healthcare setting. The PA will conduct health assessments, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions, prescribe and monitor medications, and provide preventive and follow‑up care for a diverse patient population across the lifespan. Working under a supervisory agreement with a collaborating physician, the PA delivers high‑quality medical services while actively engaging in a multidisciplinary team approach to promote wellness, prevent illness, and ensure continuity of care. This position requires a proactive and compassionate provider who is dedicated to delivering integrated, whole‑person care in alignment with Zepf Center’s mission and values.

Hours:

Monday - Friday; 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Salary Range:

$112,000 – $141,000 per year.

Patient Engagement Bonus Opportunities Available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Practice in accordance with Ohio laws governing Physician Assistants, maintaining a current supervisory agreement with a licensed physician as required by the Ohio Revised Code and State Medical Board of Ohio.

Collaborate with the supervising physician for consultation and review, escalating cases as required by scope of practice or supervisory agreement.

Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations, including physical examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow‑up care; monitor the effectiveness of interventions and modify treatment as clinically appropriate.

Prescribe, dispense, and manage medications in accordance with Ohio PA licensure and DEA authority; monitor efficacy, side effects, and patient adherence.

Perform approved procedures and treatments within credentialed scope of practice.

Coordinate referrals to specialty providers, facilitate hospital admissions when clinically indicated, and provide consultation for hospitalized Zepf clients as appropriate.

Respond promptly and effectively to clinical emergencies.

Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation of all clinical services, including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, medication management, and other required primary care documentation.

Participate actively in Zepf Center’s Medical Staff and interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure high‑quality, coordinated care.

Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatment options, medication use, and health management.

Engage in ongoing professional development and remain current with trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting PA practice in primary care.

Adhere to all Zepf Center policies, professional ethics, and applicable state and federal regulations, with a strong commitment to confidentiality, compliance, and quality care.

Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Current, unrestricted license as a Physician Assistant in the State of Ohio.

Active DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date).

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in primary care, family medicine, or internal medicine preferred; new graduates considered.

Experience working in an FQHC or community health setting preferred.

Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and comfort with high‑volume documentation.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and provide patient‑centered, culturally competent care.
