Obtains blood specimens from patients and delivers specimens to the laboratory and/or sends them through the transport system. Correctly identifies patients and specimens.

Education

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (e.g., ASCP or AMT) preferred.
  • Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of biology and 6 semester hours of chemistry preferred.

Experience

Previous work experience strongly preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality in handling patient information.
  • Absolute integrity and accuracy in the patient identification process.
  • Must complete HeartSaver CPR by the end of the orientation period.
